Prevention Institute is a nonprofit U.S.-based institute dedicated to improving community health and health equity through effective primary prevention. We shift the overarching mindset and approach to health from one that focuses solely on treating sick individuals to one that prevents disease, violence, and injury before they occur. Prevention Institute's work is characterized by a strong commitment to community participation and promotion of equitable health outcomes, with a focus on health systems transformation, health equity, violence prevention, healthy food and activity environments, mental health and wellbeing, and reducing unintentional injury. We are building a movement to transform communities to support equity, health, and safety in the first place by bolstering the conditions and factors that foster resilience and wellbeing. Prevention Institute provides tools, research, and training to communities, policymakers, academics, funders, and coalitions in adopting prevention-oriented approaches to reduce the burden of injury and disease and to foster equity and health.
