Organisation Description

Slum Child Foundation (SCF) is a registered NGO with a special Consultative status to the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations. SCF started as a CBO in 2008 and later become an NGO, under the leadership of George Ochieng’, who serves currently as the current Executive Director of the organization,. SCF is located in Kariobangi North and work in Korogocho, Huruma, Ngei, Baba Dogo, Mathare, Kangemi, Kawangware and Kibagare slums, In Nairobi, Kenya. The founder who was born and brought up in Korogocho slums happened to be a street boy sometimes back and his experiences challenged him to start the organization.

The organization is governed by a Board which is made up of Seven Members and the Secretariat which is led by the Executive Director, who serves as the Secreatry to the Board. With a Child centered approach, S.C.F focuses on different thematic areas, generated by the high rate of poverty in various slums within their catchment areas.
